Rep. Takano Announces $2.9 Million in Workforce Development Community Funding in CA-39

A Part of $12.8 Million in Total FY '24 Community Project Funding to CA-39

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Rep. Mark Takano (D-Calif.) released the following statement on four workforce development community funding projects included in the FY 24 appropriations process. 

“Training in specialized trades and jobs is critical in keeping the Inland Empire competitive in the regional and global economy,” said Rep. Takano. “These projects representinvestment in the future of work and ensure that businesses have the right personnel and support to thrive. I am proud to announce the funding of these projects and congratulate the recipients on their successful application.”

The four projects selected are:

$1,000,000 for New Workforce Development Building and Nonprofit/Business Incubatorfor the City of Moreno Valley

$963,000 for The Inland Empire Quantum Initiative by the University of Riverside

$500,000 for UCR’s Agricultural Research, Education and Neighborhood Advancement Center (ARENA)

$500,000 for the Inland Empire Technical Trade Center - Infrastructure Preparation for the Riverside Community College District

Congressman Takano submitted 15 Community Funding Requests to the Appropriations Committee. 14 of these projects received funding. All of his Community Project Funding requests and financial disclosures can be found here

This is the latest action Rep. Takano has taken in investing in workforce development in Riverside County. Last year, Rep. Takano co-sponsored legislation to strengthen community colleges and workforce training programs.
